OUR TOWN IN MIAMI
Thornton Wilder conceived Our Town as universal play about everyone in communities everywhere, and thus a piece of world drama. The play’s prominent tough-minded, universal themes are increasingly celebrated as directors and producers begin to revisit the play in the context of today’s world.
Director Michel Hausmann — of The Colony Theatre | Miami New Drama — presents a unique treatment of the Pulitzer Prize winning play. The characters of Grover’s Corners speak English, Spanish and Creole — the first time the Wilder Estate has allowed changes to the play’s text. By adding new layers of language and culture, Our Town highlights the interconnectedness of Miami’s multilingual community.
Tappan Wilder is Thornton Wilder’s nephew and literary executor, and is Honorary Chairman of The Thornton Wilder Society.
