The Yale Club of South Florida

Yale Club of S. Florida Welcomed Yale Professor of Economics Dean Karlan
What a great event, on May 20, Yale Professor of Economics Dean Karlan met with over 80 Yale and Ivy alumni at the Wolfsonian museum in Miami.  Then on May 21, Professor Karlan also met with over 25 Yale and Ivy alumni at the Boca Raton Barnes and Noble.

A leading voice in understanding global poverty, Prof. Karlan shared his insights such as "When it comes to global poverty, people are passionate and polarized. At one extreme, some argue that we’ve spent more than $1 trillion in development aid over the past fifty years and accomplished very little. At the other extreme, some claim that we’ve not invested nearly enough and need more to get the job done. Research is emerging that shows the right question to ask is not whether aid works, but which aid works. We're finding that some of the most effective forms of aid are those that take into account the irrational and often nuanced realities of human behavior."
